So when I went to the local barber Saturday morning I got to hear all about how that day (Nov 18) was the first day of deer hunting season. Specifically the guy cutting my hair griped about the 20+ shots he heard the night before, all taking advantage of new VA rules that they just call in deer kills with no need for a check in station. They took advantage of an early start. Meanwhile, the Ferrum College Wildlife Club set up a deer check station at a local gun store to gain experience in checking and servicing deer kills (The "Wildlife Club" whose name is suspiciously benign, considering).
So. When I left home that evening to go get my Nintendo Wii from a Roanoke Gamestop and fulfill my pre-order, I knew I too was taking advantage of an early start. And that my hobby and past time was far different than most in where we actually lived. I was certainly one of, if not the only, Franklin Countian traveling for the same reason.
But
Nintendo VP Reggie Fils Aime was right! I could and DID pick up my pre-order at 12:01am while several hundred Roanokers waited in lines without any promise of getting a Wii! Here's to Pre-Ordering and not waiting in line in 30 degrees like a tool.

Behold. My booty.

+ extra controller/nunchuck. & Classic controller (not in until later this week).
I know this doesn't mean much to many of you and... well, it probably shouldn't. This is all my birthday and then some. And it's a huge relief and present to me for the post-coursework and comps PhD era. Anyway. I got one. Tomorrow I'll play with it and Addy and I will have an awesome time while Corri showers with some babies (er, or attends a baby shower, I forget).
Plus, Gamefly has a few games coming my way to try out a ton of the launch titles.
